Cherry and Chia porridge

Lovely red cherries, making the porridge pink, and I’m all for pink porridge at the moment, rich in Omega 3 and 6 due to adding the chia seeds which pack a fantastic amount of protein as well, making this breakfast a powerhouse for the morning. The chia seeds are low on the Glycemic Load so the whole meal ends up sustaining you for all the morning, I defy you to feel hungry within the hour after eating it!

One of my clients last week asked me how would she gain her calcium without consuming dairy, once we had found out that she was testing as intolerant to it, well chia seeds are a great way to ensure that you have calcium in your diet. Both chia and the cherries are rich in antioxidants, keeping you young and beautiful, what more could a girl want?

1/2 cup of frozen or fresh cherries

1/2 cup of porridge soaked over night in the milk or water

2 teaspoons of chia seeds soaked in the porridge over night in the milk or water

1.5 cups of water or nut milk

Cook the porridge with the chia seeds, cherries and milk together very slowly on a low heat continually stirring for about 20 minutes.
