Obhi Chatterjee interview on Dementia

On this weeks Food for Thought Deborah Walker has with her Obhi Chatterjee, director and producer of a new film about Dementia called You Must be Nuts, and writer of the articlee ‘Keeping my dad alert, an unconventional and successful approach to dementia’. So many people now are having to support family members that are suffering from dementia and with the current articles happening in the news the time is ripe to cover this topic.

GP’s are now in the UK are now being offered £55 for diagnosing dementia, to increase the number of those being diagnosed, whilst this is admirable this doesn’t address the point that there is little support being offered for those with dementia once they are diagnosed. With what the Patients Association are calling “a step too far” that would mean a “bounty on the head” of some patients, this interview outlines Obhi’s personal journey that he has taken to support his father.

We talk about the new approach, his film and his father, the current dietary advice, and what’s wrong with it, why he think’s that it’s part of the problem not part of the solution.

A fascinating interview to support the release of the film this week.
